Math with Ms. Jiang!!! We’re celebrating Engineers Week! (Feb 23-27) by tackling the problem sets posted by MATHCOUNTS, with support from BAE Systems. Our students are putting their problem-solving skills to the test with real-world situations related to hardware, structural, software, and materials engineering—all designed to
be accessible to middle schoolers! Students can earn certificates, recognition on the Future Engineers List,
and multiple entries into the final EMonth prize drawing on March 1st. Visit

The Medicine Crew explored the anatomy of frogs in their lab gear. Great work @ms407stars 🐸 🥗

The learned about the rare disease that is #morquiosyndrome as well as Reed’s favorite food 🍕 , sport 🏒 and Roblox game! He was an instant celebrity and we can’t wait for him to visit again! @rally4reed @hellomynameisreed

Our friends from @231kbrooklyn had a parade for #lunarnewyear and we joined them for lunch to celebrate #noonesitsaloneday and #spreadloveandkindness❤️ Volleyball championship 🏐 , dance party 💃, Alice in Wonerland set prep, Rare Disease and Anti-Bullying Awareness, we celebrated it all. But mostly we celebrated being STARS ✨ The week ended with an extra special celebration- a visit from @rally4reed! The students were so excited to meet him this year. Instantly famous- he signed “more autographs than @therock” as quoted by Reed. @nycschools

Math with Ms. Jiang: Marbleslides is this super fun Desmos activity where you graph lines or parabolas to guide falling marbles and collect all the stars. 6th graders explored by tweaking numbers and analyzing how the graphs moved. After this February break, we will be diving into a line design math+art project using Desmos.

Mr. Seiler and the @ms407stars Ultimate Frisbee team made it to the district championship after this win 🏆 on Monday. These STARs have only been playing a few months and they managed to hold onto their lead in this game, winning by one point. We didn’t secure the win today but that second place trophy will be displayed with great pride in our beautiful building. We could not be more proud of you!!! And congrats to Coach Seiler! @d20brooklyn

@ms407stars was honored to host the @d20brooklyn STEAM Expo today. We witnessed first-hand the innovative minds shining in our district and can’t wait to see what their future holds. Congratulations to the many amazing teachers, students, and administrators who make events like this possible, and to the district office for all their hard work. Especially our very own STEAM Queen, Ms. Scognamillo, her team of #407starstudents, our #407starstaff and Mrs. Ngai, and of course our 💫 Mr. Lombardo. Our team always shines with you at the helm.

This Fall we offered NINETEEN different Crew classes - all small group instruction where students can find a new passion or build upon their skills in a particular subject. Ms. Dempsey’s Graphic Design Crew designed the amazing program, creating a ⭐️ to represent all the crew courses. Each presentation had a task to complete where students could earn a raffle ticket and win Lunch with Mr. Lombardo, a dance party with Mrs. DeClara, some swag, and a few other fun prizes! This event has become unique to MS407 and we thank all our families who came out to support their children, and to see all their hard work in action! Ms. Reina and the Cricut Crew sold their cup creations, Ms. Ettouby’s Cake Decorating Crew cake pops sold out, and the Culture Through Food boys worked their crepe station making delicious treats under Ms. Tsang’s guidance. This event involves the entire 407 family and would not be possible without our #407starteachers, paraprofessionals, and our entire office staff! The evening was topped off with performances from the Lyrics with Lanza Crew and the Dancing Around the World Crew (Ms. Daniel and Ms. Poli) and immense appreciation, pride, and gratitude from the 407 administration, Ms. Lombardo & Mrs. DeClara. Ms. Jiangs Math students are working on a project called “Equations About Me,” which is about using algebraic equations to tell their personal stories. They begin by creating four personal questions with numerical answers and then create an algebraic equation that reveals the correct solution. This project is built to grow with students. As they master new concepts like equations with parentheses and variables on both sides in the coming years, they can revisit and upgrade their project. Keep up the great work!

They made cards for our first responders, dropped off some fun goodies and delivered this beautiful banner to our closest fire house, Castle on the Hill. Thank you to our students, Ms. Poli, @opgratitude but most of all to those who risk their lives for us every day. @nycschools @d20brooklyn
