Principal Appreciation Day… the staff got creative and decided to call Mr. Lombardo to tell them about their day. The best part… his genuine interest and curiosity. “I’ll be right up.” Always answers every call, and shows genuine interest. This is a true leader. (We think he eventually caught on.) Today class 600 took on the streets of #nyc! Our class trip to the Paley Center For Media was such an experience. The staff walked us through how radio shapes a story just through sound. Students explored how we can tell where characters are, what the setting feels like, without any visuals. It was one of those moments where the ELA curriculum felt real and hands-on. The staff facilitated structured discussions to prepare students for the group project. The class was split into an actor group and a sound effects group to put together a live performance of The Itsy, Bitsy Statue of Liberty. In such a short time, they collaborated to pull off a short play. By the end, we were all crowded in the Pac-Man room just having fun. Thank you Ms. Brown for bringing this true piece of #projectbasedlearning to the students (and of course our resident photog Ms. Jiang)! @paleycenter

There’s no better way to celebrate #earthday than this beautiful ribbon cutting ceremony for the @ms407stars #pollinatorgarden at John J. Carty Park (97th Street and Ft. Hamilton Parkway). Thank you so much to our @d20brooklyn Superintendent, Dr. David Pretto and @partnershipsforparks for bringing these moments to the #407starstudents. And of course, Mr. Lombardo for keeping the mission and vision of MS407 at the forefront of these experiences.
