Stephen Lombardo, Principal
Stephen Lombardo eagerly took on the role of New Project Director with over 13 years of experience in New York City Public Schools.
As a teacher at William McKinley, I.S. 259, located in District 20, he has worked in the fields of Special Education, ENL and STEAM. In his time as a teacher, he has supported a myriad of student populations, providing students with a safe environment to work productively and grow academically. Stephen has also worked as a Teacher Leader and mentor. In this capacity he has supported new teachers in the profession, refined curriculum, and delivered Professional Learning Sessions to staff.
Stephen has also worked at the District Level, with fellow teachers as a District STEAM coach. In this position, Stephen collaborated with fellow teachers to develop project-based learning curriculum, and delivered professional learning for fellow District 20 Schools. Stephen was also a founding member of the District 20 STEAM Expo, which is a culminating event that celebrates student achievement in the field of STEAM on a District-wide scale.
As an Assistant Principal At The Madeleine Brennan School I.S. 201 in Dyker Heights, he has collaborated with educators, families, and community leaders to ensure that his students achieve high levels of academic success. His focus has always been to establish a culture of community based on trust, collaboration, and inclusion of all. Stephen’s experience in District 20 for over a decade, improving instructional programs and structures to support student achievement is a true testament to his dedication as a leader and educator.
As Project Director, Stephen envisions M.S. 407 as the premier Medical & STEAM school in District 20. Students will embark on a journey to become resilient learners; immersing themselves in an educational framework which will set our scholars on a path toward academic and social success.
Empowering the innovators of tomorrow, M.S. 407 will challenge students to become critical thinkers, incorporating the world of Medicine & STEAM components across all content areas. Students will engage in Project-Based Learning focused on developing competency in engineering, medicine, and science. Upon graduation, M.S. 407 students will be equipped with the tools necessary to contribute to the surrounding community and the demands of the ever changing world.
